Another great option is white vinegar. Soak a cloth in warm vinegar, press it onto the gum for several minutes to soften it, and then scrub off. For tougher jobs, a commercial adhesive remover or goo gone applied according to the label instructions works wonders. Always finish by washing the area with soapy water to remove any oily film.
