Our primary focus is on material selection. The majority of our outdoor trash cans are made from post-consumer recycled plastics, primarily HDPE. This means we're diverting plastic bottles and containers from landfills and giving them a long second life. For every bin we produce, we calculate the equivalent number of plastic bottles kept out of the environment.
In our production process, we've invested in energy-efficient machinery and aim to use renewable energy sources where possible in our factories. We also practice closed-loop water cooling systems to reduce water consumption. A key part of our environmental strategy is designing for durability. A trash can that lasts for decades, resisting weather, UV rays, and wear, ultimately creates less waste than one that needs frequent replacement. We design them to be easily serviceable, with replaceable parts like lids and wheels.
Furthermore, we optimize our packaging to use minimal, recyclable materials and design our products to nest or stack efficiently for shipping, reducing transportation emissions. We are constantly evaluating new materials, like ocean-bound plastics, and more efficient production methods.
