That's an excellent and very important question. We believe transparency about our environmental impact is crucial.
Calculating the exact carbon footprint of a single product is complex, as it involves every stage of its life—from raw material extraction and manufacturing to transportation and end-of-life recycling. For one of our standard 50-gallon outdoor trash bins, we have conducted a detailed life-cycle assessment.
The result is a footprint of approximately 18-22 kg of CO2 equivalent. To put that into perspective, it's roughly equivalent to the emissions from driving a gasoline-powered car about 55 miles (90 kilometers).
We are actively working to reduce this number through several key initiatives:
* Using Recycled Materials: Our standard bins are made with a significant percentage of post-consumer recycled plastic, drastically cutting down on the energy and emissions from virgin material production.
* Optimized Manufacturing: Our production facilities use energy-efficient machinery and are increasingly powered by renewable energy sources.
* Efficient Logistics: We strategically plan our shipping and distribution routes to minimize transportation emissions.
Our goal isn't just to create durable products, but to do so responsibly. We are continuously investing in new technologies and materials to lower our environmental impact with every bin we produce.
