That's an excellent and important question. We're deeply committed to sustainability, so the materials in our bins are chosen with their entire lifecycle in mind.
The primary material we use is post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, often HDPE. This means we're giving a second life to plastic bottles and containers, diverting waste from landfills and reducing the need for virgin petroleum-based plastic. This process significantly lowers the carbon footprint of each bin.
For durability and longevity, we use a high percentage of recycled stainless steel or galvanized steel for the metal components. These materials are not only robust against weather and vandalism but are also fully recyclable at the end of their long service life, which can be over a decade.
We've also moved away from toxic coatings or paints. Instead, we use powder-coating finishes that are more environmentally friendly and emit fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Ultimately, our goal is a circular model. By designing bins that are made from recycled content and are fully recyclable themselves, we minimize waste and resource consumption, helping cities create cleaner, greener public spaces for everyone.
