Short answer: yes—in most places, you can rent urban-style trash cans for a one-day street fair instead of buying them. The smartest route is to contact your city’s sanitation or special-events office first. Some cities rent municipal bins for permitted events, while others only handle public waste and expect you to use a private vendor. If the city won’t rent to you, look for event-waste or portable-restroom companies that offer commercial trash can rentals. Ask for urban-style receptacles if appearance matters.
For a one-day fair, rental usually makes more sense than buying unless you run events regularly. A rental vendor can deliver the cans, set them in approved spots, supply liners, and pick them up after the event. Confirm whether the price includes delivery, pickup, liner changes, cleaning, and disposal. Some quotes cover containers only; you may need to arrange waste hauling separately. Also ask about damage fees, missing-bin charges, and whether the cans must be emptied during the event.
Before booking, check your street-fair permit. It may specify bin placement, capacity, recycling separation, fire-lane clearance, and access for people with disabilities. For a busy one-day fair, place cans near food vendors, entrances, and high-traffic corners, and line them so they don’t blow over. Book at least two to four weeks ahead if possible, and get the delivery window and pickup time in writing. With the right vendor and permit details, renting urban trash cans is a practical, low-waste choice for a one-day street fair.
