For me, the noisiest thing is the sudden metal-on-metal clang when the bin is tipped into the truck. The lid slams, the body bangs against the lifting mechanism, and if there are glass bottles inside, they rattle and crash around. The hydraulic whine and compactor crunch are loud too, but that first sharp bang is what really cuts through the street—especially early in the morning when everything else is quiet.
What's the noisiest thing about urban trash bins when they're emptied?
