Common Problems and Effective Solutions for Urban Trash Cans

What's the best way to anchor a public waste bin on a brick surface?

Anchoring a public waste bin on a brick surface requires a method that ensures both stability and durability against weather and potential vandalism. The most effective and professional way is to use concrete anchors or masonry screws designed for brick.

First, choose a suitable location on the brick pavement or surface. Using a masonry drill bit, carefully drill holes into the brick (not the mortar, as it's generally weaker) at the pre-marked spots on the bin's base plate. The drill bit size must match your chosen anchors. Blow out any dust from the holes.

Next, insert concrete sleeve anchors or heavy-duty masonry screws into the holes. For the highest security, expansion anchors that tighten against the brick are ideal. Position the waste bin's mounting plate over the holes, then drive the anchors through the plate and into the brick using a wrench or impact driver, tightening them firmly. Ensure the bin is level and doesn't rock.

This method provides a strong, permanent hold. For added security, consider using a locking mechanism on the bin itself. Regular checks for anchor tightness are recommended as part of maintenance.
