3. Intumescent Coatings: This is a high-tech solution. Applied to the interior or exterior of a metal bin, these coatings remain inert until exposed to extreme heat. They then swell up to form a thick, insulating char layer that protects the underlying material from the fire.

4. Perforated Metal Designs: Bins with strategic perforations or mesh sections serve a dual purpose: they improve ventilation to prevent the dangerous buildup of heat and gases from smoldering waste, and they make it harder to contain a significant fire inside the bin.

The benefits are clear: enhanced public safety, reduced property damage, lower maintenance costs from vandalism, and greater peace of mind for city planners. When selecting a bin for a high-risk zone, it's crucial to consult with suppliers who can provide material specifications and relevant fire safety test certificates.
