Use a masonry drill bit to create pilot holes at the mortar joints (not the bricks themselves, as they can crack). Insert plastic wall plugs into the mortar, then screw a sturdy metal anchor plate or bracket to the ground. Finally, secure the trash can to the plate using a security cable, chain, or built-in latch. For a completely non-invasive solution, use a weighted base. Fill a large, flat planter or a custom-made concrete base with sand, gravel, or concrete. Place the trash can on it or bolt it down. The significant weight prevents tipping and movement. Heavy-duty industrial adhesive or construction-grade epoxy is another option for lightweight bins, but ensure the surface is impeccably clean for maximum bond.
